We work with our customers to develop packaging solutions that work for them.
White mushrooms come in a variety of sizes from small button to large flat mushrooms.
They are Creamy white in colour with a mild, earthy flavour.
Chef’s tip: White mushrooms are great for making meals go further and adding flavour to stews, sauces and casseroles.
Chestnut mushrooms come in a variety of sizes from small button mushrooms to larger open cap mushrooms.
The colour varies from a light tan to a rich brown. Chestnut mushrooms have an earthier flavour than white mushrooms.
Chef’s tip: Chestnut mushrooms are great for adding an extra depth of favour to creamy pasta or risotto dishes.
Portabella mushrooms have large, rich brown caps with velvety brown gills. They have a deeper, more intense flavour than white or smaller chestnut mushrooms.
Chef’s tip: Great for roasting or baking, simply stuff with cheesy breadcrumbs and bake until tender.
FORESTIERE® mushrooms bridge the gap between the mild taste of white mushrooms and the nutty flavours of chestnut mushrooms, bringing a new taste experience to meals.
Chef’s tip: The mild, nutty flavour of FORESTIERE® mushrooms makes them the star of many meals, try creating a mushroom risotto or simply serving up as a tasty side dish.
We grow a full range of organic mushrooms at our organic certified farms. Using organic compost, our mushrooms are free from pesticides and fungicides.
Vitamin D Mushrooms
Vitamin D mushrooms taste just like regular brown mushrooms, but have the benefit of providing 100% of the recommended daily amount of vitamin D in just three mushrooms (According to The European Food Information Council).
Vitamin D is commonly referred to as the ‘sunshine vitamin’ because our bodies produce it naturally when we are exposed to sunlight. During the winter months, there is not enough sunshine for our bodies to produce vitamin D naturally, and the only other option is to get it from our food or by taking supplements.
Monaghan Mushrooms have crafted a new process to enhance vitamin D2 content in mushrooms, by mimicking the production of vitamin D2 that occurs in mushrooms exposed to sunlight in their natural environment. We give the mushrooms light and though a natural process they make vitamin D, just like wild outdoor grown mushrooms.
Mushroom Powder (Dried)
We produce Vitamin D enhanced mushroom powder which provides a convenient way to obtain vitamin D from a plant-based source. It is the only non-animal source of vitamin D, suitable for flexitarians, vegetarians and vegans.
The vitamin D enhanced mushroom powder is suitable for use in tablets, capsules and powder blends as well as foods.
Our current powder has 7,500 IU/g but please contact us about your specific requirements.
