Laboratory Assistance Traineeship launched in partnership with CMETB and Monaghan Mushrooms.
6th September, 2018
Monaghan Mushrooms has partnered with Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board (CMETB) at Monaghan Institute to establish and deliver a Laboratory Assistance Traineeship. The traineeship is a one year course aimed at developing the skilled personnel the company needs to support its future growth.
A Career Traineeship is an occupational skills development training programme that is tailored to the identified needs of a specific industry sector or sub-sector and leads to nationally recognised qualifications.
In the Laboratory Assistance Traineeship at Monaghan Institute, students learn about the science behind food-production, the procedures to be followed when working in a laboratory and use of technology in science. A substantial amount of time on the traineeship is spent on placement in the research and development laboratories of Monaghan Mushrooms. This allows students to put their learning into practice in the work place, building their knowledge and developing their career potential. The work-based learning phase provides a direct entry route to employment
Tom O’Connor who graduated from the traineeship last year and who has now secured full time employment in Monaghan Biosciences upon completion of the course joined Northern Sound Bottom Line host Pauric Clerkin, alongside Darragh Gaffney, R&D Manager and Sinead McKenna Cavan Monaghan ETB to discuss this new and exciting traineeship.
