History

Monaghan Mushrooms was founded in 1981 by local entrepreneur Ronnie Wilson when he saw an opportunity to process canned and jarred mushrooms for European markets.

With an eye for quality and attention to detail the business quickly grew and in 1986 Monaghan Mushrooms entered the fresh mushroom market, packing hand picked mushrooms especially for the UK market.

As the business grew and its reputation for fantastic quality products spread, other mushroom companies joined the group.  Today the company focuses exclusively on fresh mushrooms.  We own the largest mushroom farms in the UK, Ireland &  Canada where we grow mushrooms in a time honoured and traditional way.  You’ve probably eaten a Monaghan Mushrooms product or have one in your fridge right now! Our products are found in the fridges of 9 million households across the UK & Ireland.

The business is jointly owned by the Wilson family and Donegal Creameries plc and is one of the leading mushroom producers in the world.

One thing that hasn’t changed is our passion for growing the very best mushrooms and our total belief in delivering quality mushrooms direct from farm to table.
